Developer/Project Manager
Ned Nichols
Sargent Woods LLC
Sargent Woods was the playground for an only child who learned to love the forest. Ned Nichols always knew one day he would utilize this land. The land was kept as a Tree Farm for many years, but Ned realized housing was the best use for this beautiful piece of nature. His plan was to develop the 65 acres of Sargent Woods upon his retirement of 35 years as a project manager for Westinghouse, Power Generation.
The names used in this development all have significant history in Neds' life. Harold Sargent, Ned's stepfather, was one of four siblings who inherited land from their father who owned hundreds of acres of land in Newton. In 1973 Ned purchased the land and family home from his mother, Vivian, and lived there until 1981, when he subdivided and sold the house keeping the 65 acres.
Earl Nichols, Ned's' father, who died when Ned was eight months old, grew up in Newton on the Bootland Dairy Farm. On his fathers side, Ned is a direct descendant of the Bartletts, the founding fathers of the Town of Newton, New Hampshire, who owned the first Inn.
The remaining names of the roads came from physical features of the land, such as Stonewall Circle and Hickory Lane.
Ned lives in New Ipswich, New Hampshire, with his wife Valera Krol Nichols and their daughter Verity. Ned has three grown children, Barbara, Robert and Greg, all residents of New Hampshire.
